This blog post title could possibly raise three questions.

1. Who is "Teh Slave [Bot]"?
2. Why is "Teh Slave [Bot]" a nub?
3. Why is this in the phpBBModders.net footer?



Let me answer these questions.

1. Who is "Teh Slave [Bot]"?

A few weeks/months before going live with the new phpBBModders.net site, we had set up a "beta" test site, for development and discussion. Since we use a bot for some secret things, such as the contact form (oh no, now i revealed the secret ), i created a new bot account. We decided to call it "Teh Slave". So, this is the guy who posts those things that nobody else wants to post . We used to have a user called "Contact Bot", but we wanted a change, so now we just use our new slave. He was pretty cheap actually, we got him from one of them colonies, i'm not going to tell you which one though.

2. Why is "Teh Slave [Bot]" a nub?
First question here might actually be: what is a nub? Well, a nub is basically the same as a "noob", which is a less nice way to call a "newbie", or somebody who is new to something. If somebody has no idea about anything, he is a nub. This should never be taken too serious, it's more a joke.

Well, robots are not intelligent, and i personally hope that they never will be. They can be useful to perform some automated tasks, but we should never forget the value that something gets, when it's handmade. If it is automated, it can loose it's value. Since robots are not intelligent, they are nub.

3. Why is this in the phpBBModders.net footer?
This is probably the most interesting part . It all started a while ago. Once upon a time a friend of mine, who happens to be hosted on the same server as this site kindly asked the host for some fun. They added "eviL<3 is a nub" to the footer. Ironically they forgot to escape the "<" character . After a short time this was then changed by me to "<name> is a nub" (i will not mention the name here ). This stayed quite long.

For the new site we wanted to create a "nub group", and on each page load, a random member of that group would be selected and displayed in the footer. After this was coded, we wanted to test it out, so we just selected a group as "nub group". This was the Bots group, since we had no other one. We liked it, so we decided to leave it that way.

So what the heck is this all about?
The phpBBModders.net footer will randomly select a bot and declare him as a nub.
