mchat input delay/lag

Post by nicolas2 »

Hello i have mchat installed for months (or a year maybe) on my forums here:

Code: Select all

http://nicoblog.org/forums/
Some time ago we started feeling an input lag i mean when we send a message it get's stuck a bit and the sends it, the message sometimes appear duplicated (but after refresh only 1 copy remains).
This delay/lag didn't happen when i first installed the mod.

I tried the purge function (we had 5000+ pages of archives). I repaired and optimized phpbb tables on mysql database but the delay doesn't go away.

Is there any way to fix it?

Thanks!

that double message in mchat sometimes is also on my site, i think the problem has something to do with the internet lag or host lag.. i have not found a cure for this problem.

If the site/internet is slow some might press the send button twice.

Hello, i think the lag happens if one sends at the exact time the chat is autorefreshing.

I found that the option pause while typing solve this.
But it has a flaw that makes it unusable (for me) which is:

If you type something and then delete it it will remain paused and will not refresh ever again.
If this function worked by pausing IF there is text on the box only then it will be perfect.

But how it is now if a person that doesn't know how the chat works types something and then deletes it, he/she might think nobody is talking because the refresh stopped taking place.

That's my suggestion.
