PhpBB 3 Captcha

Post by Trent »

What do you guys think of the new CAPTCHA in RC1?
I think some people may have trouble trying to read it...but I like the options in the ACP for it.

I actually really liked the old one, it was so clean! But i guess it was too clean, so it was easier for bots to read. The ACP options are nice though, i agree :)

Hopefully we can look forward to a different one within the next couple of releases.

Yeah indeed the new CAPTCHA is a lil bit tough to read..... Also even if you alter those ACP settings for the CAPTCHA sometimes it is easy to read and sometimes it aint..... When the x value is set very low it becomes almost impossible to read.....

Something between 15 and 20 is quite ok to read :)

And yes we will be soon seeing many SPAM BOT fighting mods on the loose :P

Any RC1 users had anyone complain that the captcha is hard to read yet?
I got an email from one guy who had troubles..

I wonder if a new captcha will come out soon.

Try setting the x value to a high one in the ACP.... That should improve the readability :)

It's horrible.. I hate it.
Even when you set x to a higher number..

I have to say, I'm not too fond of the RC1 captcha myself. It's okay, but I had problems reading it sometimes. I think I will probably replace it with a mod. Most likely, I'll convert the Photo Captcha phpBB 2 mod. I rather like that one.

Hmm from a lot of trial runs I did with the Captch I noticed that the readability some times is pretty good and some times it aint when x value is set in the range of 15 to 25 but it was not consistent i must say....

The choice of colours varies significantly each time and hence I bet the main reason for inconsistency....
