You are correct, read the wikipedia article, and you will see that RSS is a planned feature.

As Liam says, it would be great to have something that would make it easy to add pages.
Not as far as an CMS system, but something like the category system, but then for pages would be great. We'll see what they cook for us.

Whoo hoo RSS feed support coming :D

RSS is good :P

Meik even said that if someone had RSS done working well, they would look into it and perhaps add it to later 3.0 releases, which would be GREAT!!! :P

Are you sure he said for 3.0? That's highly unlikely imo.

Yeah, I asked that in the Londvasion thread. - Which I'm still trying to get to a faster connection... >___>

Really? >.>

I mean, I don't see it as an impossibility, but rather a tad unlikely that we'd see a complete feature addon. One thing to keep in mind is that the feature list doesn't seem to be 'quite' frozen in ice in the 3.0 line, nor should it be, for the very fact that it's development took fives years or so. - Many features being in some way incomplete or outdated (at least in my opinion).

Edit: How'd you guys post before me? How very dare you. =P

I'd like to see Ascraeus reach beta by late 2010/mid '11. But then again I'm an optimist, and that depends on how much is going to change. :P The single greatest thing about Olympus is the framework it lays down, which has been more or less stated. But my observation has been that 3.2 will be more of a revision in terms of coding organization and the way in which the system works, and more of a deepening of pre-existing features, rather than that of adding new features and doo-dads. :)

New features will definately be added to 3.2. And a lot of code has already and will still be changed. The reason that it's called 3.2 and not 4.0 (yet :P) is because it's not a complete rewrite, it builds upon the 3.2 code, but it will probably break a lot of compatibility. In fact, it already has, as some things like $phpbb_root_path and $phpEx have been changed.

*hopes for RSS*

I like the idea that just because it's out of Dev that it isn't feature frozen. I think that adding new things is a good idea, just to keep people interested. Plus, if there isn't any real reason to not add the feature right away, I don't see the point of adding it to just 3.2.

-Quick Reply
-Quick Edit
-AJAXed Registration
-Emails on birthday
-More security (for example renaming the ACP folder)

Hi,

chaosweapon wrote:(for example renaming the ACP folder)

You can already do it in phpBB 3.0.3. You simply need to rename the "adm" directory as you want.

Renaming the ACP folder does not give you any more security.

I don't think AJAX should be over-used. It can be neat, but I DONT want an AJAXed ACP for example.

chaosweapon wrote:Quick Reply

:P

And renaming the ACP folder will not give you more security at all. phpBB 3.0.3 isn't out yet, but i think renaming the folder will not cause too many problems. phpBB 3.1 (trunk) however allows you to even specify the path to the ACP folder in config.php.
