MChat and New Host

Hi there, this question is for Rich and anyone else who has run into this issue...

My host only allows 8 concurrent php spawns which means trouble for mchat. That I can have 8 users logged into my index page where mchat is active at a time or else I begin having connection lag times, internal server errors. It is crippling our site.

My host told me I can solve this by moving to VPS, where I could manually go into the httpd.conf and change the max number of php spawns I could have.

But they will not help or support me, because that's out of scope.

There is no way I'm getting involved in server maintenance at this level, I don't know what the implications are of messing with that info.

I want to move to a new host (preferably shared, but will consider VPS) but I need confirmation that I won't run into this issue again. I'm currently waiting on a reply from jaguarpc.

Are php spawns the same thing as concurrent users?

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
