mChat menu not shown on Index/home page??

Postby vapual » 16 Sep 2014, 16:27

Hi i just installed mChat with Automod and completed DIY below.

*** NOTE: If you are installing via Automod you may skip to step 2 ***
1. Make all edits to all files and upload them to your forum.
2. Browse to the file mchat_install.php in the root of your forum to make the database changes (eg, mysite/mchat_install.php).
3. Delete the mchat_install.php file from the root of your forum.
4. Refresh the style, theme and purge the cache in the ACP, set the settings for the Mini Chat under the ".Mods" tab.
5. Visit user/group permissions and set the permissions for the Mini Chat for your groups/users.

But the mChat menu is not showing up in my Board Index/Home page.
I have added the codes from Root>Style>them and template to my Style them and template directory which is We-clearblue. Refresh the Theme/template and purge the catch but the mChat menu tab wont show up on the Board Index. The menu tab for mChat setting is there on the UCP but the chat box isn't there in the board index.

Can u help me figure out what to do?

No, If you are installing mChat with Automod, that should be...
*** NOTE: If you are installing via Automod you may jump to step 2 ***
1. Make all edits to all files and upload them to your forum. (skip this step)

You still need to do step 2 and 3
2. Browse to the file mchat_install.php in the root of your forum to make the database changes (eg, mysite/mchat_install.php).
3. Delete the mchat_install.php file from the root of your forum.

mChat menu or tab or whatever u call it.

i can not see mChat anywhere in the BoardIndex/home page.

For example in this forum u have this Mini-Chat tab at the top but i don't have that in my Website.

Hello to all support members,
Actually, I can't understand what I can do for the step 2: Browse to the file mchat_install.php in the root of your forum to make the database changes (eg, mysite/mchat_install.php).
In plain terms, step 2 is used to make the database changes, right!
So, now I can download it from the root directory and opened with notepad++, then which portion of code is replaced by my own code?
Please explain the step 2 in details because If step 2 is completed successfully then It may work properly.
Thanks

@ Peteh_2 this is step 2 http://rmcgirr83.org/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=4306#p27630

@ vapaul look in the overall_header.html for that mchat menu/link edits. Maybe automod could not find code.

Hello Sniper_E,
As you may redirected to my own post where I can explained the details, that means all these modofications were made in the files found in the root directory of PHPBB.
So, now what changes were made in the mchat_install.php??
Since I am making the changes that were found in the root directory of PHPBB and when this file I can delete; that means when I can completed the code replacement as explained in my post there are total 13 files shown to make changes and after that I can delete mchat_install.php or any other things need to do before deleting it?
Thanks

The mchat_install.php file placed in the root of your forum does not need to be edited. You run that file, navigate to that file and it will take you to the administration page and you can install the database tables needed for this mod to work. After you get the mcchat tables installed the mchat_install.php file will not be needed for anything. Delete it.
