Also I'd say it is time to abandon support for IE7, use CSS3, eg use colour gradients on buttons, stop using gif's to produce rounded corners, embrace CSS3, and all it offers, as long as it degrades nicely on older browsers. I am working on a project to produce a button set using CSS3 and font icon replacement, with the ultimate aim of removing all gifs from prosilver.

This will reduce http requests, make phpBB look and feel 'modern' (eg with three state buttons instead of the two you get with prosilver by default).

What I really meant to say was not 'abandon support for IE7', but to 'stop making design compromises for IE7'. If uses of earlier browsers don't get rounded corners, then so be it, they should upgrade.

"3.1.0 finally changed from image-round corners, to borderradius" from http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic ... 81&t=43149, so some modern css and html 5 being introduced in future versions.

I use that in this revised mobile style for the cornere. What I would like to see is how to use gradient colors with css instead of using prosilver's gradient background images. But will that actually increase the load time on a mobile device? These images are pretty small in size.

This page gives a list of devices and browsers supporting CSS3 gradients:

http://caniuse.com/css-gradients

and I have found a great CSS Gradient Colour Generator: Ultimate CSS Gradient Generator, which allows a variety of effects, and shows how they will look on the older browsers.
