Using AJAX in MODs?

Postby igorw » 02 Oct 2006, 15:29

Have any of you used AJAX in a MOD? I havn't seen much of it used until now. What i've seen is "AJAXED", "AJAX Chat".

I myself have created one ajax MOD, nameley Advanced admin user notes, that includes an ajax search.

I'm planning a MOD that makes all forums, threads, and the index ajax. IE, you can sit there and without refreshing if a new thread has been made it shows up at the top and the background changes to a user defined color then fades away.

Sounds like it's gonna eat resources though. When doing something with AJAX, i'd always watch out that you don't overdo it. It may be a cool method to load data, but you don't want to kill the server ;)

You guys need to make sure you are providing a backup method if js is disabled ;)
