I have read this too in another forums. I am very happy. I am a fan of phpBB and I can't wait to get my hands on the new baby. Keep up the good work phpBB developers :)

They say MODs won't work. Apparently some files were entirly re-written, and most were changed drasticly.

This is why I say making mods for a Beta board is stupid and a waste of time. If the next version has parts rewritten and others changed big time anything you may have done just got thrown out the window and smashed by an 18 whealer.

I think that it's a fair statement to say that none of the MODs written for phpBB2 will work - as is - with phpBB3. None. The codebase is completely different. So while some of the functionality might be reproducable, the code itself is entirely different.

Saeru,

I have been writing for it since Beta1. Think I have had to redo less than 10 lines out of 15,000+.

Its feature frozen and they are just bug fixing now. I am still redoing my MOD for it. If I started at the RC stage I would not be ready for the release would be my guess. Also MOD authors can find bugs in the code for the future that are best found in beta rather than RC when a schema change is harder to push for.
