As the subject suggests, will you be converting mChat into an extension for 3.1/Ascraeus?
There are a few things I like the look of in 3.1 and I do like to keep software up to date but mChat is one of the few mods I don't want to lose when the time comes to update.

Why do you want to force your visitors to use a mobile style? Most modern phones, and certainly tablets, work perfectly well with 'normal' styles. You should be able to have 40 chars per line on the width you have. Longer links would still break though, nothing much you can do about that if you're going to limit the chat to such a narrow column.

I would rearrange the portal and make the chat full width, or at least two columns, it's too narrow as it is.
