Custom field while creating new topic

Hello there, since i dont want to make mad ppls on shoutbox, I`d like to ask here.

Would someone guide me how to make single select input below new topic subject?
I dont want to use any of mods for that since its too simple (i guess).

So basic overview:

1. Creating topic,
2. Typing subject,
3. Choosing from dropdown one of values (for example picture/video/text/other),
4. Saving it to database.

I have like 20 forums with subforums, but i`m making some kind of news site, where i`d like to use basic filtering from (as in example) videos/pictures/texts.


Would anyone help me out?

As i said, i dont want to use mod for it
