General question about mod install's

Hello all, I have been working with multi-slect for custom profile fields mod. [url]https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/mspf/[/url] When I try to install it on a test board it bombs out with a could not find error. So I did this edit by hand and then did a force install. Everything seems to be working fine. I would like to try this on my live board. But afraid of breaking it. I know make a backup first, but I have not had much luck with backups. Is there a safe way to get this installed on a live board?

The MODification is for 3.0.8, that can be a problem.

As in do ALL file edits by hand? One for prosilver and one for my style? That's a lot of typing! lol but thanks for the advice

Sure SysOp... If you forced the install on your localhost and then edited the file manually it could not find the code in, and all is working fine...
You should be able to do the same on your live forum. Just backup the file(s) that you have to manually do the manual edit to.
Automod will do the other edits. No backup is needed on the files Automod edited because it makes backup files which can be restored by uninstalling that mod.
