Mchat update from 1.36 to 1.38 problem

I'm using phpbb 3.012 with mchat 1.36.
There have been some slight changes to the standard template. (prosilver)

I want to update mchat via automod. But i cannot uninstall it (errors in unistalling cannot find lines in template) , or install 1.38
Is there an other way to do it? like only the core files? if the template files aren't changed.
What files do i need to copy?

Open the install.xml file in your browser and follow the instructions for updating

Thanks RMcGirr83 for that update list, that made it easy.
First went from 1.36 to 1.37 (was the most work)
And then from 1.37 to 1.38 (super easy)
