To date all of the mod's I've installed have been through manual edits. Rich (and others) what are your experiences with Automod, does it do what it says it does?
Rich could I have used Automod on your leaderboard mod?
The reason I ask is I would like to have a calendar on my forum for events, but there is none at the moment, not validated anyway.
I've seen this one:- http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 0&t=666195
And it looks complicated to install... I'm also worried about the manual SQL changes, all of the ones I've had to do so far have been added to a file you just run (cheers Rich).
Anyway.... I'm not sure if I really want to risk an unvalidated mod on my board but it got me thinking does Automod work and is it less risky to use it for complicated mods than doing it manually.

Re: Automod
Automod works to a certain degree. The current RC has a difficult time in installing a modification onto a style other than prosilver or subsilver2 for updating the php files though, it works very, very good.
The current version located in SVN works much better than the current RC, IMHO. A_Jelley_doughnut is actively continually updating the fixing bugs that users post about.
You can grab the SVN version from here and use Tortoise SVN Client to download it and try it.
Start with a test forum, setup automod and give it a shot...and yes the Leaderboard Mod will install fine using Automod as all modifications submitted to the MODDB at phpbb.com must to pass validation.

Re: Automod
yeah, it's subsilver based, (I saw the stylesheet.css file in the theme folder like you mentioned), when I checked my styling settings, everything is set to serenitydarkblue and I have done alot of changes to this particular theme/template and changing it to subsilver breaks the design, so what should I do? I can't switch to another template.

Re: Automod
Just do the edits to serenityblue as the mod states to do for subsilver2.
Re: Automod
wow, that's alot of changes, but okay, Here's one small issue, on the erorr that I got for installing this LB mod,
<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span></div>
</div>
<!-- ENDIF -->
I don't see that anywhere in my overall header template file, so where do I add the code that comes after it?

Re: Automod
There is no such edit in the mod, nor in a subsilver2 based style. These are the edits to do for a subsilver2 based style
