The installer is what is holding it up, without question and when you browse to that file you see source code? That should never, ever happen...ever. Try uploading via FTP again and if it still does that I'm not really sure what to say...contact your host about it maybe.

So launching it through the URL as I stated above was the right way to do that?

Try replacing your edited forum php files with the backedup ones. To be honest this is the first I have heard of this error.

OK!
I just went and got a fresh copy of the functions.php remodded it for mchat and the portal, and I have reached the installer!

But I have another hitch there is a red warning box about the umil being out of date,.........will adding the newest umil version hurt this, can I use the one I have or what should I di?

Just continue with the install. It will install just fine. You can update the UMIL files at a later date.
